DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle junior David Butler garnered Sun Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors after helping the Eagles wrap up the 2009-10 conference championship during the week ending Feb. 21. Butler averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game and shot 73.7 percent from the field and 80 percent from the charity striped in two games.

The Eagles’ first game of the week saw Butler turn in a 20-point, eight rebound performance in an 81-67 victory over Warner. Butler, who was 1-of-12 in three-pointers going into Wednesday’s game, hit both of his long-range attempts against the Royals. He was 8-of-12 from the field and added three assists, three blocks and three steals.

Butler closed out the regular season with 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe in a 84-78 overtime win against Webber International. He totaled seven boards and his six blocks in that game brought his season total to league-high 100 blocks.
