DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle freshman Alexis Huegas was named the first men’s tennis Sun Conference Player of the Week for the 2010 season, the league office announced on Feb. 22. Huegas was perfect on the week registering two singles and two doubles victories.

His first match of the week saw Huegas team up with Jan Hoekzema for an 8-4 doubles win over Jacksonville’s Chema Fantova and Hector Garcia. He then went on to score the clincher in the Eagles 8-1 win over the Dolphins, topping Fantova 6-2, -63 at the No. 2 singles spot.

Huegas and Hoekzema earned their second doubles win of the week against Neil Clausen and Jeff Morris as the Eagles topples NCAA II No. 10 Rollins 6-3 on the road. In singles, Huegas defeated Clausen, who is ranked 14th in NCAA II, 6-4, 6-2.
