MOBILE, Ala. — Three-time defending NAIA champion Auburn University Montgomery defeated the Savannah College of Art and Design 5-0 in the quarterfinals of the 2007 NAIA Women’s Tennis National Championship Wednesday (May 16) evening at the Mobile Tennis Center.
The No. 1-seeded Senators improved to 28-1 while the Bees, who were the tournament’s No. 9 seed, ended their season at 13-5. It was the first time in three trips to Mobile that SCAD has reached the quarterfinals.
The match was delayed several hours after heavy rains moved through the area. AUM took control of the match as they swept all three doubles matches and then closed out the match with wins in singles at No. 2 and No. 4.
