EWC Tigers came out storming with 3 runs in the first inning off of 4 hits.
Freshman Sherman Ferguson opened the gates with a double. Hits by sophomore Kyle Hyatt, Freshman Derek Watson, and junior Bennie Garner contributed to add a couple of more runs in the inning.
But the defense of the Tigers was the key. Junior Brandon Barrington pitched 7 and a two third innings of controlled ball that kept the Rattlers off balance. Freshman Matt Geiger came in to get the save for the Tigers. Their were a host of defensive plays made by the middle infield of the Tigers that kept the Rattlers from striking.
The Tigers are back in action on Friday as they host conference foe St. Thomas in an important match-up.
