DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Friday’s men’s soccer match between Embry-Riddle and Webber International was more than just another win for the 18th-ranked Eagles who topped the Warriors 1-0. For the Embry-Riddle men’s soccer, it was the ** regular season conference title in program history as the Blue and Gold went undefeated at 6-0-2 in The Sun Conference play on the way to a 12-3-2 overall mark. For senior Viktor Bergstrand, it was a career night as he tied the Eagles’ program record for career shutouts with 16.

The Eagles took advantage of one of their early opportunities to take the lead, scoring in the eighth minute of play. Sam Litchfield played a ball into Ryan Maloney in the box and Maloney’s quick turn allowed him to elude his defender, giving him plenty of room to operate. Maloney took full advantage of the space, rocketing a right-footed shot into the upper netting for his 15th goal of the year and a 1-0 Eagle lead.

Warrior goalkeeper Andres Zwaans kept the game close as he recorded six saves on the night, three of which were from shots at point blank range. Bergstrand was tested on three occasions and was up to the task each time, collecting three saves to preserve the shutout.
