ERAU Men's Cross Country 23rd at NAIA National Championship
VANCOUVER, Wash. - The No. 5 Embry-Riddle men's cross country team ended their 2010 season by finishing 23rd out of 32 teams at the 2010 NAIA National Championships Saturday.
The Eagle men scored 489 points and were led by senior Sam Vazquez who finished 50th out of 326 competitors in a time of 26:03. Sophomore Evans Kirwa and senior Russell Snyder both crossed the line in 26:12 and were 67th and 68th respectively.
Joshua Guerrero and Brett Galloway rounded out the Eagle scorers finishing in 225th and 250th. Guerrero crossed the line in 27:48 and Galloway finished in 28:07. Zach Kraus and Alex Frazier also competed for the Eagles finishing in 28:08 and 28:26.
Five individuals from two other Sun Conference schools also competed at the meet. Ignacio Fernandez, Patrick Cooley, John Sutherland and Ben Harrison represented SCAD Savannah, while Jonathan Mott represented Webber International. Fernandez finished 64th overall in 26:11, Cooley finished in 205th in 27:34, Sutherland finished in 286th in 28:48 and Harrison finished in 307th in 29:48. Mott, the lone representative from Webber, crossed the line in 188th in a time of 27:24.
The meet was held at the Fort Vancouver National Site Parade Ground. Southern Oregon won the 32 team event with 105 points and is the 2010 NAIA Men's Cross Country National Champion. Wayland Baptist (124), Malone (251), Shawnee State (254) and Eastern Oregon (276) rounded out the top five.
