DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Sun Conference has announced the 2011 women's soccer All-Conference teams and special awards. 23 student-athletes from eight Sun Conference institutions placed on one of the two teams. League champion Northwood placed eight on the honor roll, while league runner-up Embry-Riddle put six on the list. The teams and special awards were voted on by the conference coaches.

Northwood freshman Helen Lynskey earned Player of the Year honors for her performance during her rookie campaign. Lynskey tallied 20 goals and 20 assists in just 17 games for the Seahawks. Her 60 points during the season is second all-time in Northwood single seaso history. Lynskey has recorded three game-winners with a .202 shot percentage on 99 shots. Lynskey ranks first in the NAIA with her 20 assists and second overall in assists per game (1.11).

Embry-Riddle freshman Valerie Obita garnered the league's Newcomer of the Year award, following in ERAU teammate Krizzy Menez's footsteps from last season. Obita is from Lindome, Sweden and has made an immediate impact on the Eagles' squad. Obita leads the No. 18 Eagles with 18 goals in 17 games, also contributing four assists. Her five game-winners rank 12th in the nation while her 40 season points rank 22nd overall.

Blue and Gold junior Cecilie Henriksen was named the 2010 Champion of Character award winner. It marks the third consecutive year that an Eagle was honored with the Champion of Character title. Henriksen, a native of Naestved, Denmark, serves on the Student-Athlete Leadership Team at Embry-Riddle and has volunteered regularly at the Boys and Girls Club of Daytona Beach. She recently participated in the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, and also worked with several youth soccer players, offering individual lessons and participating in Embry-Riddle's four weeks of summer camps. Henriksen has scored three goals for ERAU, also dishing out three assists in 17 games.

ERAU head coach Samantha Baggett-Bohon was voted The Sun Conference Coach of the Year, a honor she shared last season with Northwood's Ty Brewer. Baggett-Bohon led her Eagle team to a 13-2-2 mark in the regular season, and a 6-1-2 record in conference play.
