2010 Cross Country Preseason Polls Announced

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men’s and women’s cross country teams were selected by a panel of league coaches as the favorites to win the 2010 Sun Conference titles, the conference office announced Wednesday. The ERAU men’s team earned eight first-place votes and a total of 89 points, while the women’s team received seven first-place votes and 87 overall points.
On the men’s side, Embry-Riddle is coming off a fifth-place finish at the NAIA National Championships last November. The Eagles also won The Sun Conference Championship for the fifth consecutive year, placing five runners in the top six overall.
SCAD Savannah was selected to finish second in the poll, garnering one first-place vote and 77 total points. South Carolina-Beaufort earned 70 points, followed by Webber International (63 points) and Warner (55) in the top five.
Ave Maria, Florida Memorial, Northwood, Johnson & Wales, and St. Thomas rounded out the men’s poll.
On the women’s side, Embry-Riddle is coming off their fourth consecutive conference championship, placing 10 runners in the top 13 at the TSC Championship last November.
SCAD Savannah was voted second in the poll, receiving one first-place vote and 77 total points. South Carolina-Beaufort also earned a first-place vote along with a total of 70 points. Webber International (58 points) and Warner (56) were fourth and fifth respectively.
Ave Maria, Florida Memorial, Northwood, Johnson & Wales, and St. Thomas rounded out the women’s poll.
