Seahawks Come Back to Take Down No. 4 Bellevue University (Neb.)

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The preseason nationally ranked no. 1 Northwood University Seahawks fought back after being down by as many as 22 points in the first half, and went on to defeat the no.4 nationally ranked Bellevue University (Neb.).

Down 42-24 at halftime, the Seahawks came out of the break on fire. A basket by Tyrone Davis with 17:58 left to go, got the Seahawks within 10 points of Bellevue. The rest of the game featured 5 lead changes, one which saw the Seahawks on top 60 – 55 after a basket by Noah Keeton with 8:36 left to play.

With the game tied at 72 with 7.2 seconds left to play, Tyrone Davis took the ball the full length of the court, got in the middle of the paint, and kicked it out to a wide open Thierno Agne. With time running out, Agne put up an attempt from behind the arc, and was able to connect for the game winning shot. Time ran out and Agne was tackled by his teammates at center court in celebration.



Junior All-American Patrick Horstmann scored a game-high 26 points and also recorded a game-high 11 rebounds. Junior Tracy Parks play an integral role in the victory producing 14 points off the bench. Senior All-American Jonathan Dunn poured in 12 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Junior Tyrone Davis was fantastic running the offense. Davis finished the game with 7 points, 9 assists, and 4 steals. Thierno Agne scored 8 points, including the game winning three, and came up with 6 rebounds (4 offensive).

The Seahawks were outrebounded 28 – 24, but only allowed 2 offensive rebounds while coming up with 8 of their own. The Seahawks stole the ball 13 times while Bellevue registered 1. The Seahawks were able to force Bellevue into 24 turnovers while only committing 10, which played a big factor in the victory.

With the win, the Seahawks improve to 3-1 on the season while Bellevue drops to 4-2. The Seahawks will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 26 when they take on conference foe St. Thomas University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will take place on the campus of Northwood University.
