Embry-Riddle Wins Men's and Women's Track and Field Conference Championships
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Both the Embry-Riddle men's and women's track and field teams took home its respective Sun Conference Championship title Monday afternoon at the ERAU Track Complex on the campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
It was the fifth consecutive title for the Eagle men and the third consecutive title for the women under Head Coach Mike Rosolino.
ERAU's Adam Szablowski was honored as The Sun Conference Field Athlete of the Year for his solid performances on the weekend, while Sam Vazquez of ERAU and Dredame Carter of Florida Memorial were awarded Co-Track Athlete of the Year honors for their impressive showings at The Sun Conference Championship.
On the women's side, Reta Woodard of ERAU was awarded the Field Athlete of the Year honors and Juline Brice of Webber International was named the Track Athlete of the Year.
As a result of two ties in the voting, ERAU's Mike Rosolino and FMU's Richard Roosevelt were both honored as The Sun Conference Co-Coaches of the Year for the men and ERAU's Rosolino and Webber International's Peter Ormsby were selected as The Sun Conference Co-Coaches of the Year for the women.
SCAD Savannah's Tracy Koch and Nick Curtis were selected as the first annual women's and men's Sun Conference Champions of Character.
The top three winners of each event will be named to the All-Conference team for the 2010 season.
