League Lands Four in Men’s Basketball Top 25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – According to the latest NAIA Division II men’s basketball poll released on Tuesday, The Sun Conference has four teams listed among the Top 25 teams in the nation. The poll is voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents. This is the fifth ranking released for 2011-12.

Topping the poll is Northwood, who returned to the No. 1 spot for the third week in a row. The Seahawks received all 113 first-place votes for a total of 343 points. They are 16-1 overall and earned their 15th consecutive victory with a 90-66 decision against Johnson & Wales last Saturday.

Southeastern is at No. 17 with 155 total points. The Fire currently is tied with Northwood at the top of the league standings with a perfect 4-0 record and are 12-5 overall. The 2011-12 season marks the first time that Southeastern has been listed among the nation’s Top 25.

St. Thomas is ranked 21st with 96 points after receiving votes in the last few polls. The Bobcats, who are back in the polls for the first time since 2009, have rebounded from a 1-6 start to rattle off 10 straight wins to improve to 11-6 on the year. St. Thomas is third in The Sun Conference race at 4-1.

Rounding out The Sun Conference members in the poll is Warner at No. 22. The Royals are 12-6 on the year and 2-3 in league play.
