Lady Warriors Sweep the Series from #15 Lady Bees

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International softball swept 15th-ranked SCAD Savannah in three games to move to the top of The Sun Conference standings. The Lady Warriors took the second game 3-1 from Lady Bees from a three game series. In the intermission between games, Webber Softball honored its six seniors; #1 Yahtea Benton, #3 Dallas King, #4 Jianna Hernandez, #18 Dana Roloff, #24 Cody Windham, and #29 Tiffany Ragans. The final game of the series went to WIU with the final score of 3-1 on April 14, 2012.

GAME ONE

Lady Warriors took the second game 3-1 from Lady Bees from a three game series.

Webber International goes on the board first in the first doubleheader against SCAD Savannah to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning with 1 run, 3 hits, no errors, and 3 LOB. Jessica Lanci doubled to right field to start the inning, and then Ashlee Quigley fouled out to 3b but allowed Jessica Lanci to score on the throw.

Lady Warriors extended their lead to 3-0 in the third inning with 2 runs, 2 hits, 1 error, and 1 LOB. Ashlee Quigley scored first in the top of the third on the throw. Jianna Hernandez reached on an error by 1b, advanced to third on the throw and earned an RBI Sydney Jones scored an unearned run.

SCAD Savannah scored its only run in the top of the seventh inning to reduce the deficit to 3-1, but it was not enough to put a scare on Webber. Kline grounded out to 2b and Spears scored.

Leading the way for Webber were Jessica Lanci and Ashley Quigley with a hit and a run for each player. Ashley Quigley pitched in 7 innings where she faced 24 batters, allowed 4 hits, a run, and had 2 players strikeout.

Spears had a hit and a run in a loss for SCAD Savannah. Schorr pitched in 6 innings where she faced 27 batters, allowed 6 hits, 3 runs, and had 2 players strikeout.

GAME TWO

SCAD Savannah scored first in the final game of the three game series to go up
Gonzales singled to center field, advanced to second on the throw and earned an RBI as Spears scored.

Webber International was not going to stay behind for long. They had 2 runs, 3 hits, 0 errors, and 1 LOB and took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Ashlee Quigley doubled to right field earned 2 RBIs as Ashley Peterson and Jianna Lanci scored.

Lady Warriors extended their lead to 3-1 after their fifth inning at bat with 1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, and 1 LOB. Jessica Lanci doubled down the lf line and earned an RBI as Yahtea Benton scored.

Leading the way for Lady Warriors in the second game of the doubleheader was Jessica Lanci with 2 hits, a run, and an RBI. Ashley Peterson and Yahtea Benton had a run in the victory over SCAD Savannah, and Ashlee Quigley had two RBIs. Kiana Levy pitched in 7 innings, faced 28 batters, allowed 8 hits, 1 run, and had 5 players strikeout.

Spears had two hits, a run in a loss to WIU. White pitched in 6 innings, faced 25 batters, allowed 6 hits, 3 runs, and had 4 players strikeout.

Webber International's overall record is now 31-19 and 12-3 in The Sun Conference; whereas, SCAD Savannah is now 19-5 and 7-4 in The Sun Conference.

Lady Warriors will finish their regular season at Northwood University on April 27-28, 2012 in a three game conference series which will start at 5 pm on Friday and at noon on Saturday.
