Webber Upsets #3 Northwood Seahawks 93-88 in Overtime.
BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University Men’s Basketball won a thriller in overtime against #3 Northwood with the final score of 93-88.
It was a game filled with passion from start to finish as Webber fans packed the Sabbagh Center for an expected entertaining game. They got exactly what they came for. It was once again big plays by Tyler Auerbacher, Gabriel Rutledge and Jakeem Hill that propelled the Warriors to their biggest win of the season so far. Entering the game Northwood was ranked # 3 in the nation and also preseason #1 in NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball. Fans stormed to the court in excitement and players also engaged in the celebration.
It was not an easy outing as both teams played good basketball, especially down the stretch and overtime. The Seahawks went up by 3 after a three pointer from Rashad James. Jakeem Hill answered with a traditional three-point play to tie the game at 83. A pair of free throws from Brian Pace sealed the game to give WIU one of the biggest wins school history.
Leading the way for the Warriors was senior guard Tyler Auerbacher with a career high 33 points to go along with 9 rebounds. Jakeem Hill added 25 points, 11 rebounds and 8 blocks. Brian Pace chipped in with 18 points and 6 assists.
With the win the Warriors inprove to 9-7 overall and 4-2 in the conference. Northwood on the other hand falls to 16-2 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
The Warriors return to action on Tuesday January 15
th when they take on #2 ranked Embry Riddle University at 7:00 p.m.
