Sun Conference Champions Webber Football Makes Top 25 in National Coaches Poll

BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University football has left its stamp on the Sun Conference and is experiencing a national spotlight. The Warriors are officially 2014 champions of the Sun Conference.

Winning seven straight games to finish off the season, their effort has been noticed by the national coaches poll. The recent voting took place on November 10th, 2014 and found Webber International Warriors football ranked as 25th in the country. The Warriors, now find themselves waiting to see what happens within the top 25 next weekend, in hopes to move their way up the poll and into playoff contention.

The 2014 Sun Conference Champions, (25)Webber International University Warriors football, has finished season play with an astounding seven straight wins. The Warriors finish at 7-3 overall in regular season play, which is a vast improvement off of last years 5-5 finish. The Warriors have featured Sun Conference players of the week four out of the last five games of the season. The most recent congratulations to the Warriors quarterback, Billy Pavlock, who locked his place in the spotlight with his performance against the Apprentice School Builders. Pavlock was 14-17 in completions for 214 yards and a touchdown, also with 18 rushes for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns. His performance puts him with the three other Warriors that were Sun Conference players of the week during the season, Darius Page, Travon Montgomery, and Prince Holloway.

This season has been one of the best seasons in Webber International University football history. Three school records were broken this year including total rushing yards, overall punt return yards, and most overall sacks. The rushing record had been previously set in 2007 by, Taylor Atwood, with a total of 873 yards. Congratulations to this years running back, Darius Page, who demolished that with a total of 950 rushing yards. Also in 2007, Jamarcus Watkins, set the punt return record at 232 yards. This year, Prince Holloway, has torn through that record and put up 338 yards with 2 returns for a touchdown, with his longest being a 75 yard return. Holloway also finished ranked #2 in the country in punt return yards. In 2008, Michael Frazier, set the school record for 10 sacks in a season. This year, Marquise Harts, ripped through defenses and reset the record at 10.5 sacks. Congratulations to the warriors who have helped make history.

The Warriors will take on University of the Faith on November 15th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Legion Field in Lake Wales, Fla. Come on out and support the Warriors as it is their Senior day and possibly the last game of the year. Webber will now wait patiently for the rankings to come out in next weeks poll to see if there is any hope for a post-season birth. Go Warriors!!!!
