No. 18 Warner Men's Tennis Team Improves to 10-0

TAMPA, Fla. – Warner University men's tennis team kept their perfect season alive with an 8-1 win over No. 25 Oklahoma Baptist University on Thursday, March 20.  The No. 18 Royals picked up their tenth win of the season and are now 10-0 with four regular season matches left on the schedule before The Sun Conference tournament begins on April 17.

The win is the fifth of the season for the Royals against a team either ranked or in the receiving votes' portion of the NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches' Poll.  The Royals are one of three undefeated teams in the entire country and have the second longest winning streak behind Georgia Gwinnett College (12-0); Bethany College (Kan.) is the third undefeated team at 9-0.

Against the Bison, the Royals swept the doubles round for the sixth time in 10 matches this season.  Both of the Royals top two tandems improved to 9-1 as Julian Ramirez-Luna and Patrick Frandji along with Juan Espinel and Juan Aranzazu won their doubles matches.

Vitor Schepper and Daniel Mora improved to 8-2 with an 8-2 victory at the No. 3 spot.

In singles action, 10th-ranked Marco Carvajal defeated 32nd-ranked Ramirez-Luna 6-4, 6-2 for the only Bison point of the match.

Juan Espinel, playing in the No. 2 singles spot for the first time this season, defeated 21st-ranked Daniel Aguilera 6-3, 1-6, 10-2. 

Both Patrick Frandji and Daniel Mora did not lose a game in their 6-0, 6-0 wins.  Mora along with Juan Aranzazu maintained their perfect singles record as well; Mora improved to 10-0 on the season while Aranzazu is now 9-0.

Vitor Schepper needed a third-set tie breaker to determine his match but the senior prevailed winning 6-1, 0-6, 10-2.

The Royals return to the court on Saturday, March 22, when they take on SCAD Atlanta in Orlando, Fla. at the Lake Cane Tennis Center.
