Ramos Reaches 1,000 Points in Win over Brewton-Parker

Alyssa Ramos needed four points to reach 1,000 for her career.
With 8:08 left in the second quarter of the 74
th game of her career, Ramos buried her second 3-pointer of the night to give the Fire a 31-8 lead, and Ramos her milestone basket. The Carlsbad, California native finished the night with 15 points in an 87-58 win at Brewton-Parker Monday night.
She became just the fourth player in Fire women's basketball history to reach the mark, and the first to do so since Charity Kidder in 2008.
The Fire as a team connected on 14 3-pointers on the night, and bolted out to a 28-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. During the first ten minutes, the Fire hit 11 of their first 17 shots.
Southeastern (7-3) built a 27-point second quarter lead with a 10-0 run, which was started by another 3-pointer by Ramos, and finished with a pair of
Ali Sanders free throws to give the Fire 41-14 lead. At halftime, the Fire led 43-23.
A 6-0 run by Brewton-Parker to start the third quarter got the Barons within 14, but five straight points by
Kristen Scholl, and a basket by
Christin Strawbridge took the Fire up 50-29, and allowed them to coast to victory.
Junior
Bailey Hooker added a season best and game-high 18 points, along with nine rebounds, and two assists.
SEU returns to action on Thursday in Milwaukee when it takes on sixth-ranked Cardinal Stritch at 7 p.m.
