Beck Wins 600th as Fire Sweep Tougaloo

Jason Beck picked up his 600
th career win during a 22-3 win at Tougaloo on Tuesday. The Fire added a 7-2 win in the series finale to move to 8-3 on the year.
"I could have never reached this milestone without the numerous great players we've had over the years, and all the great coaches we've had," said Beck. "I'm blessed to have a wife that understands the demands of coaching, and has allowed my family to blend with the Southeastern family."
After a sluggish start, which saw two runs in the first three innings, the Fire broke away with four runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth, to take a 10-3 lead after five.
Danny Acevedo hit a pinch-hit grand slam in the sixth to cap off a six-run inning. The Fire added six more runs, without a hit in the seventh.
F.T. Corso cruised to his first win of the season, scattering eight hits over five innings of work, striking out five, and walking one. Corso allowed three runs, two were earned, and coaxed five ground outs.
Hunter Bonner was 3-for3 with four runs scored and an RBI.
Marcus Guzman scored four runs and drove in four, going 3-for-5.
The Fire were active on the base paths, swiping nine bases.
That continued into the second game as the Fire added 12 more stolen bases, led by
Baziel Cabrera's four swipes.
Ryder Albright earned his first win of the season, going five strong, allowing unearned runs of four hits.
The Fire used a five-run fifth to distance themselves.
Luis Diaz stole home in the sixth to cap the scoring.
Angel Garced led the offense with a 3-for-3 day with a run scored and an RBI. Cabrera was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
The Fire return to action on Friday at 4 p.m. when they host 25
th ranked Rio Grande to open up a four game set.
