Baseball Gold Glove Winners Announced

The Sun Conference has announced the 2016 Gold Glove team following the conclusion of the regular season and conference tournament. All nine student-athletes will move on to the Rawlings-NAIA Gold Glove national ballot.

C - Conor Sullivan, AMU (Senior - Chicago, Ill.)

Sullivan did not make an error in 221 chances and allowed only two passed balls while gunning down 23 runners in 33 stolen base attempts (58.9 percent).

1B - Chris Mattison, SEU (Junior - Lancaster, Pa.)

Mattison made only four errors in 424 chances while splitting time at first base and behind the plate for a .991 fielding percentage.

2B - Angel Garced, SEU (Junior - Lakeland, Fla.)

Garced was a solid defender at the keystone for the Fire, committing just one error in 247 chances and taking part in 30 double plays.

3B - Jack Curtis, Keiser (Senior - Clermont, Fla.)

Curtis manned the hot corner for the Seahawks and boasted a .940 fielding percentage, making 13 errors in 218 chances and taking part in 15 double plays. 

SS - Jesus Fuenmayor, Keiser (Senior - Miami, Fla.)

Fuenmayor was a defensive standout for the Seahawks at shortstop, participating in 33 double plays and making 12 errors in 225 chances for a .947 fielding percentage. 

LF - Matt Kianka, USCB (Senior - Springfield, Va.)

Kianka notched five outfield assists and compiled a .989 fielding percentage, committing just one error, which came in the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round. 

CF - Jose Gomez, STU (Junior - Hialeah, Fla.)

Gomez had great range in the outfield for the Bobcats and was perfect in 93 chances while notching five outfield assists.

RF - Josiel Colon, SEU (Senior - Greensboro, N.C.)

Colon covered a ton of ground in right field and was sure-handed all season for the Fire, making just one error in 58 chances with one outfield assist.

P - Kyle Keatts, Keiser (Junior - Jupiter, Fla.)

Keatts fielded his position well, handling 21 chances without an error and starting one double play.
