Warrior Football Sweeps Sun Conference Players of the Week and Named No. 25 in the Nation

BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University football knocked off the No. 9 ranked team Saint Xavier and bumped them back all the way to No. 17. Webber had no idea that in doing so, Dequan Harvin, Austin Logue, and Desi Villanueva would sweep the Sun Conference players of the week. Also, the win over the Cougars vaulted the Warriors into the No. 25 ranking in the Nation.
Dequan Harvin is a junior academically but a freshman on the field. This past Saturday however he played like a seasoned veteran. He recorded four solo tackles and four assists, including five tackles for loss, in the Warriors’ 36-31 upset of No. 9 St. Xavier. As a defensive lineman, Harvin was credited for a solo sack and an assist to go along with an interception. Congratulations to Dequan Harvin and teammates in this accomplishment.
Patrick Logue, also known as Austin Logue, rushed for 107 yards on 22 carries in the Warrior’s 36-31 win over No. 9 St. Xavier University. Logue averaged 4.8 yards per carry with a long of 14 against a strong Cougar’s defensive front. His accomplishment named him the Sun Conference offensive Player of the Week. Congratulations to Austin Logue and teammates on this achievement.
Desi Villanueva completed the trifecta as he took claim of the special teams Player of the Week. Villanueva helped the Warriors control field position in a 36-31 win over No. 9 St. Xavier this week, as he punted five times for an average of 38 yards with a long of 58. Villanueva also connected on his only field-goal attempt from 21 yards and was 3-for-5 on PATs, as the Cougars broke through the line to block two kicks. Congratulations Desi Villanueva and teammates on this accomplishment.

Last but certainly not least, the No. 2 2016 NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 poll surfaced this afternoon. The Warriors (1-1) are now ranked No. 25 in the Nation in a tie with Midland (Neb) (4-0).
