Southeastern Claims 2019 Men’s Track & Field Title

SAVANNAH, Ga. (April 28, 2019) – Southeastern University won the 2019 Sun Conference Men’s Track & Field Championship which concluded Sunday at the Theodore A. Wright Stadium on the campus of Savannah State. It marked the first Men’s Track & Field Sun Conference championship in program history for the Fire.
SEU finished the two-day event with 218 points to top second-place St. Thomas (169). Keiser (106) placed third with USCB (91) finishing fourth and Webber International (77) fifth.
SEU Head Coach Nick Dodson was named The Sun Conference Men’s Track & Field Coach of the Year.
Outstanding Track Athlete of the Year honors went to St. Thomas’ Diego Lopez and Isaac Joseph. Lopez won both the 10,000m run and the 3,000m Steeplechase, while Jospeh claimed the 100m Dash and 200m Dash crowns.
SEU’s Kyle Manuel won Field Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors. Manuel won the shot put, the discus, the javelin and the hammer.
Next up will be the 68th annual NAIA Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championships to be held May 23-25 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
