Bats Come Alive During Second Day in Clermont

CLERMONT, Fla.—A total of 62 runs were scored in the five games during the second day of play in the 2019 Sun Conference Softball Championship, which set the final pairing.
The championship is being hosted at the Legends Way Ballfields by PFX Athletics.
Defending champion Thomas will meet USCB in tomorrow’s title game at noon.
GAME 1: Thomas 6, Coastal Georgia 3
Trailing 3-1 in the fourth, Amy Latner hit a pinch hit, two-out, three-run home run to give Thomas the lead which it would not relinquish. Shealah Brown threw 5.2 scoreless innings in relief, retiring 13 straight to close out the game. Barbara Woll, Gabby Mora, and Addy Mauldin all had two hits for Thomas. Paige Alt drove in all three Coastal Georgia runs, two coming on a first inning home run.
GAME 2: Warner 12, Keiser 9
The teams combined for 30 hits as Warner got three RBIs from Sarah Bruno and Brittney Winget. A seven-run second inning was answered with a three-spot by Keiser to tie the game. Warner scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to create some separation. Bruno was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a home run. Ashton Owen doubled as part of a 3-for-3 showing.
GAME 3: USCB 4, Webber International 3
The first spot in the championship game was clinched by USCB, which was down to its final out down by a run rallied to score three in the seventh to walk off for the second time in as many games.
Natassja Hatcher’s single to left brought home the winning run. Sloan Ducey threw 5.1 shutout innings in relief.
GAME 4: Thomas 14, Warner 9
A total of 32 hits were put on the scoreboard between the two teams, highlighted by Woll’s two triples during a 3-for-4 showing with five RBIs. Holly Campbell doubled, posting a 3-for-4 line with two RBIs and four runs scored. Hannah Wilde drove in three more.
GAME 5: Tomas 8, Webber International 4
Woll added another triple to her day, doing so with the bases loaded in the second, and also picked up a home run, going 3-for-4 with five more RBIs. Campbell added two more hits and scored three runs.
