The Sun Named NAIA Champions of Character Five-Star Conference Award Winner

Four schools achieve Gold status, four Silver and two Bronze

TAMPA, Fla.— The individual teams and student-athletes of members of The Sun Conference aren’t the only ones winning awards and accolades in the NAIA.  The whole league is getting in on the act.

The Sun Conference has been named a Champions of Character Five-Star Conference Award winner for 2018-19 by the NAIA.

From the NAIA:

“Each year, NAIA schools use the Champions of Character scorecard to measure the pursuit of character-driven athletics. Schools scoring a minimum of 60 out of 100 points earn the Champions of Character Five-Star Institution Award. Conferences earn the Five-Star Conference Award based in part on at least 60% of their schools being named Five-Star Institution Award winners. The conference must also have a Champions of Character Committee and a Conduct in Competition Oversight Committee.

“This year, 16 NAIA Conferences earned the Champions of Character Five-Star Conference Award.”

Member schools earn points in the Champions of Character program and can reach Gold, Silver or Bronze status.  Four Sun Conference members earned the top Gold designation (Johnson & Wales, Keiser, St. Thomas and USC Beaufort).  Four others reached the Silver rung (Coastal Georgia, SCAD Savannah, Thomas and Webber International).  Two more finished at the Bronze level (Ave Maria, Southeastern).
