MIAMI, Fla. (February 24, 2021) – The 2020-21 All-Sun Conference Women’s Basketball Teams were announced on Wednesday as voted on by the league’s nine head coaches. This year’s teams feature 10 first-team selections and 10 second-team honorees.
Overall, nine different schools placed at least one player among the group of 20 that make up the first- and second-team all-conference units. This year’s teams are comprised of one graduate student, 10 seniors, six juniors, two sophomores, and one freshman.
Southeastern led all teams with five all-conference honorees, including first-team selections
Haley Howarth, and
Gabrielle Ozoude. Webber International had three all-conference honorees led by first-teamers
Paris Copeland and
Leandra Franklin.
Gianni Domond and
Anari Dozier from St. Thomas were named to the first team along with Warner’s
Haley Gantt, Coastal Georgia’s
Kaliyah Little, Keiser’s
Emily Patton, and Florida Memorial’s
Keaynna Tolbert.
The Sun Conference Specialty Awards for Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Champion of Character will be announced Thursday.
The semifinals of the 2021 Sun Conference Women’s Basketball Championship will take place on Friday, February 26, from the Furnace in Lakeland, Florida. Semifinal number one, featuring the top-seeded Southeastern Fire versus Keiser will begin at 5:00 p.m. Game two, featuring second-seeded St. Thomas versus Webber International is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
