2021 Sun Conference Women’s Flag Football Awards Announced

MIAMI, Fla. (April 16, 2021) – The Sun Conference announced on Friday its award winners for the 2021 women’s flag football season.

St. Thomas’ Jada Graham and Webber International’s Sierra Harris were named the Sun Conference Co-Players of the Year. Graham, a 2021 all-conference selection (offense), totaled 587 yards through the air for the Bobcats with four touchdowns. The dual-threat quarterback also added 391 rushing yards in 2021 with five touchdowns. Harris posted 1,152 yards through the air with 16 touchdowns for the Warriors. The native of Belleview, Florida, also added 134 yards on the ground with three rushing touchdowns. Harris was a three-time TSC Offensive Player of the Week selection in 2021.

Keiser’s Justin Hilliker and Webber International’s Jeffrey Melesky were selected the Sun Conference Co-Coach of the Year honorees. Hilliker guided the Seahawks to a perfect 9-0 record (8-0 TSC) in 2021, earning the No. 1 seed in this year’s Sun Conference Flag Football Championship. This past year, KU outscored the opposition, 136-45, and produced six TSC POW selections. Under Melesky, the Warriors posted an 8-2 (6-2 TSC) mark, earning the No. 2 seed in Saturday’s championship. During the 2021 season, WIU scored 169 points while holding its opponents to 104. The Warriors had six POW honors this past year.

St. Thomas’ Kayla Alvarez and Webber International’s RayGene Garner were named the Sun Conference Co-Champion of Character Award recipients. Alvarez, a team captain for the Bobcats, was a leader on and off the field. Holding a 4.0 GPA, Alvarez helped shape and motivate her teammates and peers this season. Garner was a true leader on and off the field for WIU. As a graduate student, Garner took the freshmen and younger players under her wing, proving to be a mentor to the team. She helped the team’s freshman adapt to the rigors of collegiate athletics by setting up study halls and team activities to get them acclimated to college life.
