MIAMI, Fla. (July 25, 2022) – Keiser University Football has been selected to take home the 2022 Sun Conference Regular-Season title as voted upon the league’s seven head coaches. This is the first time since 2016 a football team will be crowned Sun Conference champion.
Keiser received 36 points and six of the seven first-place votes. The Seahawks made it to the NAIA Football Championship Series Quarterfinals last season and ended with a final ranking of seventh in the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Postseason Poll.
Southeastern landed second in the poll with 30 points and the final first-place vote. The Fire tied for the regular-season crown last year with the Seahawks both going 5-1. St. Thomas followed with a third-place finish and 26 points and found their first NAIA ranking in the 2021 season. Ave Maria was right behind to finish fourth with 21 points, the Gyrenes finished 4-2 in conference play and was in the running for the title up until the last game of the season last year.
Warner finished fifth with 14 points followed by Webber International and Florida Memorial who tied for sixth wtih 10 points.
Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team in the poll.
