2024 Flag Football Postseason Award Winners Announced

TAMPA, Fla. – The Sun Conference announces its major award winners for the 2024 flag football season as voted on by the league's head coaches.
 
Warner's Ana Pat Vincensini is this year's Player of the Year. Vincensini led the Royals on both sides of the ball this year, helped her team to a 7-1 conference record. She led the team in catches, yards, touchdowns, and flag pulls. Vincensini is also currently a member of her home country Panama's womens' national team. Vincensini has totaled 967 receiving yards so far this season with 24 touchdown receptions. Defensively, she has also added 64 flag pulls, nine pass break ups, and four interceptions.

Keiser's Jazmin Rhoden is the 2024 Offensive Player of the Year. Rhoden, at the quarterback position, has posted 141 completions for 1,409 yards and 26 touchdowns. The graduate student from Tampa has also tallied 52 rushing yards.

Gisele Jones of Thomas is the Defensive Player of the Year. Jones was an All-Conference defensive selection in 2022 at defensive back before making the switch to linebacker this year. The transition has allowed her, in conference play, to accumulate 17 total tackles, a team leading conference 7 interceptions, and 4 pass break ups. On the year, leads the team in interceptions with nine, and has added 38 total tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 9 interceptions, and 10 pass break ups.

Thomas's Janae Scott is the Champion of Character award winner. Scott is a two-sport athlete, maintaining a 3.9 GPA in Exercise Science. Scott is also a student mental health ambassador who helped bring the first counseling center to TU. Scott's primary focus this year has been telling her own personal story of her own struggles with mental health to young athletes, as well as, older people who have been in and out of hospitals and rehab facilities. She helps them find healthy coping skills, and provides support while helping them find their worth. Scott also volunteers as a chemistry tutor, and serves hot meals to the homeless, as well as being a mentor to a very freshman-heavy team. She was named 2022 Sun Conference DPOY and 2023 Sun Conference Champion of Character and has helped lead her team to consecutive Sun Conference Championships in 2022 and 2023.

Samantha Harris of Keiser is the 2024 Coach of the Year. Stepping into the role as the Interim Head Coach in January of this year, Harris has led the Seahawks to an undefeated 8-0 conference slate and a 12-1 overall record. This year, the Seahawks average 38.6 points per game while only allowing 5.9. Last year, Harris was a part of the coaching staff that took KU to the NAIA Semifinals, and they will look to make another run in this year's postseason.
