SCAD Announces Emily Cabrera as Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach

SAVANNAH, Ga. - SCAD is excited to announce the hiring of Emily Cabrera as the new Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach! 

"Emily brings the fire to our defensive unit at SCAD" states Head Coach Melody Shotwell. "With her strong background playing and coaching in the NAIA, her transition to producing for the Bees will be seamless."  

Emily graduated from the University of the Cumberlands in 2019 where she played collegiately and was also a part of the inaugural team in 2015. Recently, Emily served as the Head Coach of Life University from 2023 – 2024. She also obtained a Master of Science in Sports Health Science with a concentration in Sport Coaching from Life University in 2021. 

During her playing career, Emily recorded more than 200 saves as a goalie and was also an integral part of the 2018 AAC Championship team and 2019 MSC Championship team. 

"I am beyond excited and grateful for this opportunity to join the women's lacrosse coaching staff," Emily said "Being a part of the NAIA for nine years playing and coaching, SCAD has always been a role model program. I would like to thank Coach Melody Shotwell and Director of Athletics Amanda Haverstick for this opportunity. Coach Shotwell has created a great culture with this program, and I am looking forward to learning from her and helping this program excel. Go Bees!"
