2025 Football All-Sun Conference Teams and Positional Awards Announced

TAMPA, Fla. – The 2025 All-Sun Conference Football Teams and Specialty Award winners were announced on Friday morning, following votes from the league’s eight head coaches.

Florida Memorial running back Jerodd Sims has been named the Sun Conference Back of the Year. In conference play, Sims averaged 6.8 yards per carry and scored 11 rushing touchdowns. He totaled 716 rushing yards, the most in the Sun Conference this season. He also added 257 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns for 973 total yards and 14 total touchdowns. Including non-conference play, Sims has accumulated 1,240 yards of offense this season.

St. Thomas wide receiver David Hayes has been selected as the Sun Conference Receiver of the Year. Hayes is a two-time First Team All-Conference recipient and the 2024 Offensive Player of the Year. This season, Hayes led the league in receiving touchdowns, recorded 31 receptions in conference play, and surpassed 700 receiving yards overall. He scored six touchdowns in league action.

Keiser offensive lineman Tyler Carlson has been named the Sun Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year. Carlson appeared in every conference game this season and provided consistent play on the Seahawks offensive front.

Keiser defensive lineman Tai Lologo has earned the Sun Conference Defensive Lineman of the Year award. In conference play, Lologo recorded 12 tackles, five tackles for loss, one fumble recovery, and one interception.

Keiser linebacker Eli Bertrand has been named the Sun Conference Linebacker of the Year. Bertrand competed in all seven conference games for Keiser and totaled 40 tackles and four tackles for loss in league play. Overall, he has recorded 65 tackles this season, averaging 7.2 tackles per game.

St. Thomas defensive back Jerome Mitchell has been selected as the Sun Conference Defensive Back of the Year. Mitchell ranks in the top 10 in the conference in pass breakups and is second in interceptions per game. He allowed fewer than 60 passing yards in coverage this season and recorded two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, four interceptions, and six pass breakups.
