2025-26 Season Kicks Off with First Volleyball Players of the Week

TAMPA, Fla. – The Sun Conference announces the first players of the week of the 2025-26 academic year, honoring three volleyball student-athletes for the week of August 18, 2025.

All three awards are based on performances from August 15 – August 17.

Attacker of the Week

Laura Bonomi, Southeastern

Senior | Ceto, Italy | Outside Hitter

Notes: Bonomi racked up every offensive category, collecting 22 kills in consectuive double-doubles in consecutive sweeps to start the season over Point and RV Reinhardt. Collecting 3.67 kills per set with a .450 hitting percentage, including a game with no hitting errors in the win over Reinhardt. She also notched nine service aces on the week, including the seven-piece against RV Reinhardt. It was the first time there had been seven service aces by one player in a game for the Fire since the 2014 season.


Defender of the Week

Marysa Connors, Southeastern

Graduate Student | Trinity, Fla. | Libero

Notes: Connors showed up and showed out this week in two convincing shutout wins over Point and RV Reinhardt University. Collecting 27 digs with only one reception error.

Notes: Averaged 10 assists in a pair of 3-0 victories... dished out 38 assists against Point while adding five kills... assisted on two blocks against Reinhardt.
