Southeastern's Betsy Billings Earns 2025-26 Sun Conference Athletic Trainer of the Year Recognition

TAMPA, Fla. — The Sun Conference is pleased to announce that former Southeastern University Assistant Athletic Trainer Betsy Billings has been named the 2025-26 Sun Conference Athletic Trainer of the Year, as voted on by her peers across the league.

Billings served as Assistant Athletic Trainer at Southeastern University, where she provided medical care for Fire student-athletes and worked primarily with the women's soccer and track & field programs.

"Betsy has been a shining example of what this award is meant to represent, and what the profession of Athletic Training strives to be,” Southeastern University Assistant Athletics Director of Sports Medicine BJ Geasa said. “Her unwavering intentionality in all-encompassing care to Southeastern University student-athletes and to The Sun Conference demonstrates excellence within the field. Our athletic department and institution are proud to have her represented at the conference level."

During the 2025-26 academic year, Billings earned certifications in dry needling and assisted in expanding Southeastern's sports medicine services while also serving as a resource for student-athletes' mental health and well-being.

Billings also assisted with the administration of championship events, serving as the host athletic trainer for The Sun Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships each of the past two years. She helped develop medical coverage and emergency action plans for a new championship venue and also oversaw sports medicine operations during the 2026 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round hosted by Southeastern.

Billings will now move forward to the national ballot for the NAIA Athletic Trainer of the Year Award, which will be announced on September 15.
