Sun Conference Softball Players of the Week – Week 11

MIAMI, Fla. (April 18, 2021) – Thomas' Averie Sheppard (Player) and Ave Maria's Alissa Bolinger (Pitcher) have been named the Sun Conference Baseball Players of the Week for the week ending April 18.

Averie Sheppard – Thomas – FR – Chattanooga, Tennessee
Sheppard had the most productive week at the plate out of all the Lady Night Hawks, hitting .500 while scoring 6 runs and tallying 4 stolen bases. Through the Coastal Georgia doubleheader, Sheppard rode a five-game streak in which the Chattanooga, Tennessee, native recorded a hit on the first at-bat.
 
This is Sheppard’s first TSC weekly award of the season and the first of her career.






 

9743Sun Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week
Alissa Bolinger – Ave Maria – FR – Palmetto, Georgia
Bolinger was absolutely brilliant for the Gyrenes this week, tossing 13 shutout innings against Southeastern and Keiser. Against Southeastern, the freshman threw five shutout innings with four strikeouts, leading AMU to an 8-0 win. Against first place Keiser, Bolinger first pitched the tenth inning with a 4-3 lead and stranded the tying run on third to get AMU the win. She then threw a complete game three-hitter in the nightcap, leading the Gyrenes to a sweep over the conference's first place team. The freshman also did not walk a batter in her 13 innings of work.
 
This is Bolinger’s first TSC weekly award of the season and the first of her career.
