Riley Sanders (Player) and Coastal Georgia’s
Hayley Dickerson (Pitcher) have been named the Sun Conference Softball Players of the Week for the week ending April 17.
Sun Conference Softball Player of the Week
Riley Sanders – Southeastern – FR – Fort Myers, Florida
Sanders hit .857 on the week with an on-base percentage of .900 in 17 plate appearances. During the weekend series against USCB, the freshman was 6-for-7 with six runs scored and stole seven bases in as many attempts. She became the first player in the 10-year history of the program to steal 50 bases in a season. She finished the week with 12 runs scored in five games and five driven in. Her 54 hits this season lead The Sun Conference and her .432 average is second. Sanders' 52 stolen bases leads the NAIA.
This is Sanders’ first SUN weekly award of the season and the first of her career.
Sun Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week
Hayley Dickerson – Coastal Georgia – JR – Rincon, Georgia
Dickerson pitched three complete road conference wins this week and one home win over No. 14 Georgia Gwinnett. Her only loss this week was another complete game where she gave up only two hits to RV Webber International. This week in a total of 29.2 innings she allowed only four runs (three earned runs) and 15 hits. She struck out 25 batters.
This is Dickerson’s third SUN weekly award of the season and the third of her career.
