TAMPA, Fla. – The Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week honorees for men's and women's basketball and men's and women's indoor track and field.
The two basketball awards are based on performances from January 1-January 7 whereas the two indoor track awards are from performances from the beginning of the indoor season until January 7.
Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Blaize Darling Jr. - Warner | Jr. - Guard - Nassau, Bahamas
Blaize Darling Jr. continues to lead the Royals as another great game led Warner to beat the #22 ranked Lions in their first conference game of the year. Darling Jr. led the way with 20 points, a rare three point make, while being two rebounds, and assists shy from his first triple double of the year.
Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Brooke Bogatz - St. Thomas | Sr. - Guard - West Palm Beach, Fla.
Bogatz continues to lead the team from the front with two double-digit performances this week as STU went 2-0. The senior added 11 assists and 11 rebounds with four steals. Bogatz is the leading scorer in the conference averaging 17.4 per game. She is also second in assists with 59 and averages 4.2 per game for the third best. It is her seventh 20+ point performance of the season.
Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
James Williamson III - Southeastern | Jr. - Lake City, Fla.
Williamson holds the third-fastest 200 time in the NAIA and the fifth-fastest 60 Meter time.
Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Irmiris Mendez - Southeastern | Jr. - Orlando, Fla.
Mendez has a pair of Top 10 times and is 13th in the 60 Meters.
