2024 Women's Outdoor Track & Field Postseason and Academic All-SUN Honorees Announced

TAMPA, Fla. - The Sun Conference announces its 2024 Women's Indoor Track & Field Specialty Award winners and All-Academic Teams sponsored by Barnes & Noble College.

Southeastern's Chelsee Martino scored 26.5 points to lead her team to their 5th consecutive Sun Conference Title. She did a total of 12 events in 2 days, Heptathlon (7 events), prelims and finals of the 100m Hurdles and 400m Hurdles, and 4x400 relay. She is the first female in Sun Conference history to win the heptathlon 3,644 points and the 400m Hurdles in the same championship. The 800m in the heptathlon was before the 400m Hurdle final. In the 400m hurdle final, Martino beat the #1 seed in 1:03.37 which was a new personal and NAIA A-standard time to win her first 400m hurdle title. She placed 5th overall in the 100m Hurdles in a new wind legal personal best 15.48. She also ran first leg on the winning 4x400 relay that clinched the title in 3:54.25.

Keiser's Ah'leeyah Strappier is the 2024 Champion of Character, Strappier, who has a degree in Criminal Justice, has been an integral part of the Keiser program for 4 years. As stated by her Head Coach Jamaine Gordon, "She's an amazing leader who motivates herself and her teammates every day, both on and off the track. Ahleeyah's honesty and respect towards her teammates and coaches truly showcase her outstanding character. She has also dedicated her time to volunteer work, such as giving groceries to those in need through the Tree of Life program and participating in community clean-up efforts to keep parks tidy. Having Ahleeyah in our program has been an absolute pleasure, and we have no doubt that she will continue to excel in her future endeavors."

SEU's Nick Dodson receives this year's Coach of the Year award. After also receiving the Men's Coach of the Year honor, this is Dodson's tenth COTY award. After starting the program in 2018, Dodson has led the Fire to five straight men's and women's outdoor track & field conference titles and four straight indoor championships in both the men's and women's. In 2023, Dodson led the Fire to its first NAIA Men's Indoor National Title, and will look to replicate that performance at this year's Outdoor Championships.

Qualifications for the All-Academic honor are:
 1. The student must have been enrolled for two full semesters or more
