TAMPA, Fla. – The Sun Conference has announced its specialty award winners for the 2025 men’s soccer season.
Keiser’s Timo Boomkens has been named both The Sun Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Boomkens anchored a Seahawks defense that allowed just six goals this season (fourth fewest in the NAIA) and recorded 11 shutouts (tied for second in the NAIA). He also helped lead Keiser to back-to-back regular season titles. The 2024 Defensive Player of the Year, Boomkens is now a three-time First Team All-Conference selection.
SCAD Savannah’s Mario Goic earns his second Offensive Player of the Year award. Last year’s Player of the Year, Goic tied for the most goals in conference play with eight, led the league in goals per game, and ranked second in points per game. During the regular season, he recorded 13 goals and 4 assists for a total of 30 points, helping SCAD Savannah secure the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Sun Conference Tournament.
Keiser’s Santiago Nebot claims his second consecutive Golden Glove award, recognizing him as the conference’s top goalkeeper. Nebot started every conference match for the Seahawks and allowed just two goals in league play. He anchored a Keiser defense that recorded six shutouts in conference action and finished the regular season unbeaten.
Cameron Johnson of New College of Florida earns Freshman of the Year honors following a strong debut season. Johnson is tied with Goic for the most goals in conference play (eight) and leads the league in points, adding three assists. Overall, he recorded 14 goals and four assists in his first season with the Banyans.
Keiser Head Coach Gavin Oldham earns Coach of the Year honors after guiding the Seahawks to an undefeated regular season, finishing 7-0-1 in conference play and 14-0-2 overall. The Seahawks enter the Sun Conference Tournament as the No. 1 seed, marking their second straight regular season title under Oldham’s leadership. Keiser has also won back-to-back Sun Conference Tournament Championships (2022 and 2023) and is seeking its third in four years. Oldham was previously named The Sun Conference Coach of the Year in 2022 and was recognized as the 2021 NAIA National Coach of the Year after leading Keiser to the program’s first NAIA National Championship.
Warner’s Caleb Doyle receives the Champion of Character award. According to Warner Head Coach Drew Stacey, Caleb is a great example of a student-athlete whose commitment to character is evident across all aspects of his life. Stacey notes that Caleb serves the campus community as a Student Worker and a volunteer tutor and dedicates time to the Science Department. His faith-based service includes leading an FCA group on campus, a separate Bible study off campus, and volunteering with the Lux en Tenebris (Light in Darkness) group. Stacey adds that despite having very little game time, Caleb consistently demonstrates outstanding leadership, bringing positivity and character to the team at every game and practice. He is the first to pick up cones or move goals, showing up early and staying late to train, embodying the true meaning of the NAIA Champions of Character.
