SUN Players of the Week - February 17, 2025

TAMPA, Fla. – The Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week honorees for the week of February 17, 2025. 

The men's and women's basketball as well as the baseball and softball weekly honors are presented by WinWon, the Official Sports Technology Platform of The Sun. To learn more about WinWon, please click here

Men's Basketball Players of the Week Presented by WinWon

12790Defensive Player of the Week
Vincent Miszkiewicz, Keiser | Sr. - Forward - South Elgin, Ill.

Vincent Miszkiewicz started the week with lower numbers as he was only averaging 24 minutes per game but still managed four blocks, 14 rebounds, and a pair of steals in those games. Against No. 16 Ave Maria, he did not step off the floor, tallying 19 rebounds, three steals, and three blocks in the win. The defensive pressure was put on display by the Seahawks who held the highest-scoring team in the NAIA to just 69 points.



12931Offensive Player of the Week
Orlando Thomas, Webber International | Jr. - Guard - Evanston, Ill.

Thomas scored 67 points across two games for the Warriors. Against Keiser he scored 32 points while going 5/6 from three point land, and adding five rebounds and three assists. Against New College he was close to a double-double with 35 points and nine rebounds. For the week he also went 16/23 from the charity stripe.


 

Women's Basketball Players of the Week Presented by WinWon

12997Defensive Player of the Week
Grace Field, Southeastern l Gr. - Forward - Albany, N.Y.

Grace Field did everything she could for the Fire defense this week. Against New College, she notched four steals and two boards. Against Warner she grabbed 16 boards (eight defensive), as well as three steals and two blocks.





12872Offensive Player of the Week
Jodi Mullins, Southeastern | Gr. - Guard - Atlanta, Ga.

Mullins was a blistering force of offense this past week for the Fire. Averaging 23.5 points per game, the Sun Conference's leading scorer dropped 19 points and two assists in the 70-43 road win over the Mighty Banyans. In the home game versus the Royals, she did everything she could putting up 28 points and dishing eight assists. Over the week she shot 42.5 percent from the field and 90 percent (9-10) from the free throw line.

12969Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Davien Worrels, Southeastern | Sr. - Wesley Chapel, Fla.

Davien Worrels can run, he can run very fast. Five events, four gold medals, another Sun Conference Championship, Sun Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Most Outstanding Performer, seven NAIA standards hit. Worrels did it all this past weekend, his 200m time is top of the Sun Conference, eighth in the NAIA. To top it all off he ran the third leg of the Championship deciding 4x400 that produced the best time in the Sun Conference this season and is also fourth in the NAIA.


13092Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Jonathan Grant, Southeastern | So. - Alva, Fla.

Grant finished just one step of his teammate in securing the Pole Vault title at the Sun Conference Indoor Championships. Vaulting a school fifth-best 4.60m on his first attempt, gathering 10 points for the Fire who went on to win their fifth consecutive conference title by 2.5 points.




13091Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Irmiris Mendez, Southeastern | Sr. - Orlando, Fla.

Not to mention she also finished first atop the 4x400 Mixed Relay, Irmiris Mendez dominated the Sun Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships. Racing six events and winning all but one, where she finished second. Securing five NAIA Standards, and for the Fire a fifth consecutive Sun Conference Championship in Indoor Track and Field. Her times in the 200m, 400m, 60m Hurdles, and her squads time in the 4x400 are all Sun Conference bests for the season. And to top it all off, she was named Sun Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Most Outstanding Performer.

Caitlyn O'Brien, Ave Maria | Jr. - Pewaukee, Wis.

Caitlyn O'Brien set two new Sun Conference records, leaping 5.69 meters in the long jump and totaling 3296 points in the pentathlon. Of the five events in the pentathlon, O'Brien won four of the five events.



 

Baseball Players of the Week Presented by WinWon

Tyler Hinrikus, Southeastern | Sr. - Outfielder - Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

In a week where there weren't many hits for the Fire, Tyler Hinrikus delivered when they needed him most. Against St. Francis on Saturday, the Fire found themselves in a 7-0 in the seventh. The team erased the deficit, and Hinrikus finished the job blasting a 10th inning Walk-Off Grand Slam over the centerfield wall to secure 13-9 come-from-behind win. Additionally, he scored two runs, walked twice, and had six RBI's.



13094Pitcher of the Week
Byrce McDonald, Southeastern | Gr. - Right Handed Pitcher - Lakeland, Fla.

McDonald dominated in his lone opportunity on the mound this past week. Coming in in relief, the graduate fanned eight batters over five innings of relief, only allowing three hits and one walk. The performance granted him a 0.00 ERA on the game with a k/9 of 14.40, securing for himself his second win of the season and the Fire a 3-1 win over Saint Francis.


 

Softball Players of the Week Presented by WinWon

McKenzie Collins, Coastal Georgia | Fr. - Pitcher/Infielder - Holly Springs, N.C.

Went 7-16 on the week for the Mariners for a .438 average with one double and one home run with six RBI's and two runs scored to help CCGA to a 3-2 weekend.

Anna Toon, St. Thomas | Sr. - Pitcher/Utility - Great Falls, Mont.

Anna Toon notched two wins this week as the Bobcats went 3-0 overall. She recorded 14 strikeouts in two games against OKWU, 10 in game two. 




 

Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week

Milena Isturiz, Keiser | Sr. - Midfielder - Pembroke Pines, Fla.

Milena Isturiz led the Seahawks to a ranked win over No. 10 Ave Maria on Wednesday. The midfielder led the Seahawks with four groundballs and six draw controls. Isturiz leads Keiser in both categories through two games this season.

Bryce Gerber, Webber International | Sr. - Attacker/Midfielder - Manchester, Md.

Gerber led the Warriors with 7 points against Montreat, scoring five times while also assisting her teammates twice. Gerber also won five draw controls for Webber.




 

Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week

The pair went 2-0 on the week, helping their team to two 5-0 sweeps of LaGrange College. The pair of Bolland and Roberts defeated the LaGrange ones pair 2-0 and 2-1.


 

Tennis Players of the Week

Piero Fernandez, Southeastern | So. - Santiago, Chile

The reigning Sun Conference Freshman of the Year went right back to work in the opening match of the season versus NCAA DII #11 Embry-Riddle. After working with Diego Menendez and securing the doubles point in extras at flight one, the sophomore dominated his singles match. Taking down the #36 NCAA DII player Wilson Igbiniova in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. Both points secured by Fernandez helped push the Fire to their first win of the season, and the schools second ever win over the Eagles.

Liza Velykorodna, Keiser | Jr. - Kyiv, Ukraine

Velykorodna played a crucial role to Keiser's win over Division II, No. 3 Lynn. Her doubles point was the first of the day for the Seahawks. In singles, she captured the third point leading to the win.



 

Golfers of the Week

Tristan Greenleaf, Webber International | Fr. - Teddington, England

Greenleaf won for the first time in his young career at Webber International at the Coastal Georgia Winter Invite. After sharing a tie for the lead heading into the third round, Greenleaf hit 17 out of 18 greens leading to his second straight three-under par 69, and delivering the Warriors with back-to-back individual Wins at Coastal Georgia.

Yunyi Luo, SCAD Savannah | Fr. - Shenzhen, GuangDong, China

Luo was SCAD's top finisher in the first two events of the Spring season, winning the individual title against USCB. She led the Bees as they defeated NCAA DII USCB and finished third at the Coastal Georgia Invite.



 

Flag Football Players of the Week

Destiny Lockett, Thomas | Jr. - Wide Receiver/Linebacker - Tampa, Fla.

Lockett was stellar in her Night Hawk debut on both sides of the ball. In the win against Life she had 3 pulls, an interception which lead to a touchdown. On the offensive side she two TDs (one rush and one receiving).

Alexa Wilson, Thomas | Jr. - Quarterback - Daytona Beach, Fla.

Wilson went 14-17 for 161 yards and 4 touchdowns in the 47-6 win against Life, including a 20 yard td pass.

Justin Lewis, Southeastern | Jr. - Lakeland, Fla.

Justin put on a dominant performance in our 3-0 sweep over TAMUT, proving to be a force on both offense and defense. He racked up 7 goals, 3 assists, and 4 crucial saves, leading the team to victory with his all-around play. His ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities while keeping the net secure made him an essential part of our success.

Edward Galvez, Southeastern | Fr. - Miami, Fla.

Eddie delivered an outstanding performance in our 3-0 victory over St. Thomas, dominating the battlefield with over 60 eliminations to just 15 deaths and dealing over 25,000 damage to the enemy. His precision, game sense, and sheer firepower played a crucial role in securing the sweep.
