SUN Players of the Week - March 17, 2025

TAMPA, Fla. – The Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week honorees for the week of March 17, 2025.

Baseball Players of the Week Presented by WinWon

13182Player of the Week
Tanner Kelly, Ave Maria | Sr. - Infielder - Libertyville, Ill.

Tanner Kelly hit the first grand slam for the Gyrenes in almost year in the second inning of the third game against New College of Florida. It was his fifth home run of the season, which is tied for the team lead. The grand slam was one of his eight total hits and five extra base hits on the weekend. Kelly finished with a 1.000 slugging percentage, collecting 17 total bases in 17 at bats on the weekend. He also had seven RBI in the series.

Blayne Huter, Webber International | Sr. - Right-handed Pitcher - Sebring, Fla.

Huter went the full 7 innings in the Warriors run rule victory over Keiser. He had a no hitter through 6.1 innings, but still finished the game with a career high 12 strikeouts while only giving up 3 hits and 2 runs.




 

Softball Players of the Week Presented by WinWon

Mya Achenbach, St. Thomas | Sr. - Outfielder - Tower City, Penn.

Mya Achenbach had a stellar week for the Bobcats, recording 8 hits, including 3 home runs. Achenbach recorded 8 RBIs and notched 7 runs herself.





13179Pitcher of the Week
Maria Zelenka, Southeastern | So. - Pitcher/Outfielder - Miami, Fla.

Zelenka continues to impress in her sophomore season. Against Warner in Game two, the slinger fired a one-hit, complete game shutout. Fanning Royals left and right for nine total strikeouts with only walk. The shutout was her second of the season. Against Aquinas at the Space Coast, she went six innings, striking out four, allowing three hits, and walking two. Her excellent effort gave her a perfect 0.00 ERA on the week, lowering her season long ERA to 1.11.


 

Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week

13154Defensive Player of the Week
Chloe Zundel, SCAD Savannah | Jr. - Goalkeeper - Santa Clarita, Calif.

Zundel went 1-1 on the week, making 14 saves in SCAD's 15-13 loss to NCAA DIII Muhlenberg College, totaling nine in the SUN opener against St. Thomas University. The junior is currently eighth in the NAIA in save percentage (48.4).





13085Offensive Player of the Week
Bryce Gerber, Webber International | Sr. - Attacker/Midfielder - Manchester, Md.

Gerber exploded against Georgetown, scoring 12 of the Warriors 18 goals with an assist as well. Her 12 goals is a single-game NAIA record. She also had two points against Keiser as well, making it 15 points for the week.




 

Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week

Getz and Child swept their four flights in conference play this weekend and got a win AMU's first ever win over an NCAA Division II two team in Barry.


 

Tennis Players of the Week

Gonzalo Fernandez, Southeastern | Fr. - Gijón, Asturias, Spain

The freshman turned in a spectacular week for Southeastern. Moving up from line six to line four for the match against NCAA DIII Oglethorpe, he secured a straight sets victory. Adding an undefeated week in doubles, as he prevailed over Fertonani from RV SCAD-Atlanta in his other singles match.

Danna Nunez, Ave Maria | Sr. - Oranjestad, Aruba

Nunez dominated on the court this week against two NCAA Division III schools, winning both of her singles matches by a combined 24-2. In the doubles round she teamed up with Pince for two more wins.




 

Golfers of the Week

Nateesh Ganesh, Keiser | Fr. - Malacca, Malaysia

First-year golfer collected his second tournament win of the season with a 6-under, 207 (65-75-67). The native of Malacca, Malaysia, shot a 1-under on Par 4s and a 6-under on Par 5s. He added 30 par putts and notched a tournament-best 15 birdies. He also carded one eagle. On the year, Ganesh has registered an adjusted scoring average of 70.6 and is ranked No. 8 in the nation by clippd.



13139Women's Golfer of the Week
Sophia Sindersberger, Keiser | Fr. - Switzerland

Freshman Sophia Sindersberger recorded the first tournament win of her Keiser career, shooting a nine-over, 255 (73-74-78). Recorded a tournament-best 34 par putts and hide five birdies and one eagle. On the year, the first-year Seahawks has posted five top-10 finishes. Sindersberger has carded an adjusted scoring average of 72.1 and is ranked No. 5 in the nation by clippd.


 

Flag Football Players of the Week

Janae Scott, Thomas | Sr. - RB/WR/LB - Tallahassee, Fla.

The heart and soul of the Night Hawks had a spectacular week. She had eight total pulls and six pass breakups to go along with two interceptions, with one being a pick-six. Scott leads a defense that is number one in the country and is currently on a streak of six straight shutouts. Opponents are averaging 0.85 points a game against the Night Hawks.




13144Offensive Player of the Week
Haylie Young, Keiser | Sr. - Quarterback - Loxahatchee, Fla.

Haylie Young guided to a 3-0 week, out-scoring the opposition, 174-0. Young opened the week with a school-record , seven-touchdown performance as the Seahawks defeated Pasco-Hernando State, 68-0. On Saturday, Young began the day tossing five TDs in a 52-0 win over UCF. The KU signal caller completed 16-of-19 passes for 179 yards. One of her TD passes was a 66-yard strike to Ashlea Klam. She closed out the week, completing 15-of-17 passes for 182 yards and four touchdowns as Keiser defeated Daytona State 54-0. Young's two-day, three-game total for passing touchdowns was 16.
