Men's Golf All-Conference and Major Award Winners Announced from 2024-25 Regular Season

TAMPA, Fla. – The Sun Conference announces its major award winners and all-conference honorees for the 2024-25 men's golf season.

William Brun Solum of Keiser is named the Sun Conference Golfer of the Year. The sophomore from Tønsberg, Norway, has led the Seahawks to four team titles—including the 2025 Sun Conference Men’s Golf Championship—and three runner-up finishes. He posts four top-10 individual finishes, records a low round of 67, and currently ranks No. 1 in the conference with a 71.7 stroke average.

Adam Buchanan of Keiser is named the Sun Conference Freshman of the Year. Competing in 24 rounds for the Seahawks this season, Buchanan records four top-10 finishes, holds a 72.6 stroke average, and shoots a low round of 64 at the Seahawk Shootout in the fall. He finishes as the top overall individual at this year’s Sun Conference Men’s Golf Championship at eight under par.

Ben Van Hollebeke of St. Thomas is this year’s Champion of Character award recipient. Ben has been a key part of the STU golf program over the past four years. With a 3.66 GPA, he led the team with selflessness and maturity during his senior season. Always at the course, Ben mentored younger players, supported the women's team, and helped others invest their time to improve. As stated by his head coach Steve Evans, he was the one relied upon to organize team initiatives, including leading community service efforts over the past two seasons. While working at a local course during the school year — often securing free rounds for teammates — Ben’s leadership and dedication earned him Team MVP honors, despite not having the lowest scoring average.

Mike Cook of Coastal Georgia has been named the Sun Conference Coach of the Year. Now in his 15th season at the helm, Cook has guided the Mariners to another successful campaign. Last year, he led the squad to its 10th NAIA National Tournament appearance, a destination CCGA hopes to reach again this season. Voted Coach of the Year by his peers, Cook has the Mariners ranked No. 11 in the NAIA National Rankings, with one team title and two runner-up finishes so far this season.
