Sun Conference Announces Weekly Award Winners

TAMPA, Fla. – The Sun Conference announces the players of the week for men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball for the week of September 29, 2025. 

The men's and women's soccer honors are presented by WinWon, the Official Sports Technology Platform of The Sun. To learn more about WinWon, please click here.

Football Players of the Week


Defensive Player of the Week

Kareem Roberts, Florida Memorial

Senior | Miami, Fla. | Linebacker

Notes: Kareem was a problem for RV Cumberland all game long. His five tackles were all solo tackles, and with 2:49 left in the game, Roberts came up with a huge INT to seal the game for the Lions over a quality Phoenix team.

Jerodd Sims, Florida Memorial

Senior | Pine Prairie, La. | Running Back

Notes: Jerodd Sims was a problem for the Phoenix defense. His powerful presence on the ground is further backed by his 123 rushing yards on 17 attempts and two touchdowns, and a long of 35 yards. He was also a danger in the receiving game, catching three passes for 67 yards. With 190 all-purpose yards on the day, Sims was one of the key contributors for the Lions in victory over RV Cumberland.

Freshman | Kicker

Notes: Egloff went perfect in the win against RV Cumberland, making the Lions' lone field goal and 3/3 on PATs. He totaled six points, and his lone FG went for 35 yards.

Notes: Telecka led NCF to a sweep of Warner with 19 kills, in which she posted an impressive 45.5% hitting percentage.

Freshman | San Jose, Calif. | Defensive Specialist

Notes: Maylis DeTar led the Gyrenes in digs with 26 in the four set win over Keiser. DeTar also posted a reception percentage of .950 on 21 attempts. She logged two aces as well behind the line.


Setter of the Week

Mallory Dills, Keiser

Sophomore | Indianapolis, Indiana | Setter

Notes: Mallory Dills had a strong week running the Seahawks' offense, distributing 69 assists over two matches, averaging nearly 9.9 assists per set. She displayed consistency and precision, hitting .800 on attacks and adding 4 kills of her own. Defensively, Dills contributed 15 digs and chipped in a block.

Senior | Valencia, Spain | Goalkeeper

Notes: Nebot had a flawless week in goal, recording two shutouts in two starts. Across 180 minutes, he did not concede a goal, posting a 0.00 GAA and a perfect 1.000 save percentage with 5 saves. Nebot?s composure and consistency helped secured wins against Florida Memorial and St. Thomas.

Notes: Johnson had another stellar week for the Mighty Banyans as he scored three goals on the week, converting 75% of his shots on goal. Two of his goals came in NCF's conference opener that saw the Mighty Banyans earn a 3-0 win at Warner.

Notes: The best name in NAIA soccer is back and she had a great week from the corners, contributing to three goals in two games. Against Southeastern, Snorradóttir had two corner kicks that found the head of a teammate to knock it in. On Saturday, she did one better, scoring directly from the corner for the games first goal. The Seahawks did not allow a goal in Snorradóttir's 99 minutes on the pitch this week.

Maria Vilhena, Keiser

Senior | Faro, Portugal | Forward

Notes: The best single-game performance for the Seahawks this season went to Maria Vilhena who tallied a 14-minute hat trick on Wednesday against Southeastern. Her first goal came four minutes into the contest before a pair of headers from corners solidified the hat trick in the 18th minute. On Saturday, Vilhena followed it up with the eventual game winner against St. Thomas, volleying a cross that came into the box. Vilhena is now leading the team in points this season and is tied for the team lead in goals scored.

Freshman | Hatfield, Essendon, Hertfordshire, England

Notes: Stubbs was SCAD's top finisher with an 8K time of 25:11.5, placing him 15th in the field of 317. The freshman placed first among all NAIA runners as the only runners to finish ahead of him were from NCAA DI institutions. With his time, Stubbs ties for the 10th fastest time in SCAD program history.

Notes: Sullivan's time of 22:00.9 is fourth in SCAD's record books, bringing her within 11 seconds of her second-place time in program history.

Avery Shahriari, New College of Florida

Sophomore | Clearwater, Fla.

Notes: Sophomore Avery Shahriari became the first tournament winner in NCF history as he shot 5-under par to post a score of 67 in the 70-man, 18-hole tournament to finish in first place. The tournament, Battle at Black Diamond, was also the first-ever home tournament in program history.




 

Women's Golfer of the Week

Lauren Stewart, Ave Maria

Junior | Fishers, Ind.

Notes: Lauren Stewart carded the best round in school history at the Battle at Black Diamond. At just 1-over, Stewart passed the previous best round by a Gyrene by a score of two strokes. Stewart also won the tournament, which was called after just the first round. She became just the second ever Gyrene to finish first in a tournament.
