Sun Conference Crowns This Week's Players of the Week

TAMPA, Fla. – The Sun Conference announces the players of the week for baseball, beach volleyball, women's flag football, men's and women's golf, esports, women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, and softball for the week of March 9, 2026.

Baseball Players of the Week

Charlie Collins, Southeastern

Senior | Victoria, Australia | Outfielder

Notes: Charlie Collins was one of the bright spots in the up and down week for Southeastern. Going 10-17 from the plate, the Fire right fielder hit .588, driving in eight runs, scoring five himself, and taking two walks. He finished the week with a .667 on base percentage, and slugged 1.235. Of the three home runs he hit, two were walkoffs, in back-to-back run rules of Peru State. Additionally, he stole bases, and cleaned up all four putout opportunities.

Jesus Gonzalez, Florida Memorial

Sophomore | Hialeah, Fla. | Left-Handed Pitcher

Notes: Gonzalez was instrumental in the Lions' seven straight wins this week. He started his first game on the mound in the second game of the series against Fisher and delivered a sensational performance. He pitched all seven innings and delivered 13 strikeouts, while only allowing four hits, one earned run, and two walks, along with an ERA of 1.29.

Sophomore | Orlando, Fla. | Shortstop

Notes: Genesis Iglesias had a dominant stretch at the plate, batting .615 (8-for-13) across four games. She recorded two doubles and a home run, while driving in seven RBI and scoring three runs. Iglesias also added a walk and a stolen base, striking out just once during the span as she helped power the Seahawks’ offense.

Junior | Miami, Fla. | Pitcher

Notes: Fia Zelenka was REALLY busy this week, pitching in three of the seven games played. Giving up only two runs, and securing three wins over RV or ranked opponents. Shutting out then No. 6, now No. 11 Grand View, and No. 9 Our Lady of the Lake. She compiled 18 strikeouts with a 6.10 k/7, and no walks. She finished the week with a 0.68 ERA, two hitting No. 11 Grand View, and throwing a three-hitter against No. 9 OLLU. She picked up three more wins, advancing her personal record to 10.1 and her new season ERA is 0.33. She helped her own cause with six RBIs and two homers this week, while pitching 20.2 innings and two complete games.

Sophomore | Albuquerque, N.M. | Goalkeeper

Notes: Francesca Pieniadz swept the week with three straight wins in goal. The goalie made 18 stops across the three matches and now has five wins this season, which is tied for the fourth most wins in a year in program history.

Notes: Annie Dhabliwala led the team with 17 points across three matches last week. The week started with a career-high seven goals and eight points from the senior as the Gyrenes took down Ottawa. Dhabliwala then scored four goals in the program's first ever win over a DII school in Davis and Elkins and three goals in the Gyrenes first ever win over Lawrence Tech.

Notes: Richards is the third different Warrior to win a tournament this spring, going 10 under par and beating second place by 5 strokes.

Junior | Shenzhen, GuangDong, China

Notes: Shan led the Bees to a tournament win at the Currahee Club Invitational. The Junior shot a 223 over the three rounds to finish in second overall, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. SCAD's third-round score was the lowest of the tournament and the only score to be under 300 for the entire event. With the win, SCAD upset No. 3 Dalton State University.

Notes: Warner University defensive back O’Mariah Gordon anchored the Royals’ defense during a 3–0 week, recording five interceptions and five flag pulls across three contests. Gordon’s ball-hawking ability consistently disrupted opposing passing attacks, while her five interceptions created key momentum-shifting turnovers for Warner. Her defensive awareness and playmaking presence helped limit opponents’ scoring opportunities and played a critical role in the Royals’ undefeated week.

Notes: Freshman quarterback Ava Wallace added to her nation-leading total for passing touchdowns, producing 10 this past weekend as the No. 2-ranked Seahawks went 2-0 at the IFFA Next Level College Flag Football Showdown on Saturday. Wallace led the Seahawks to a pair of victories as Keiser defeated Saint Francis, 35-12, and (rv) Campbellsville, 40-13. The first-year Seahawk tallied five TD passes in each game as the Seahawks moved to 6-1 on the year. Her 521 yards this weekend accounted for 79.0 percent of the team's total passing as Keiser averaged 329.5 yards per game through the air. Currently No. 4 in the nation in completion percentage (73.6 percent), Wallace completed 78.6 percent of her passes this weekend. On the year, Wallace ranks among the nation's leaders in completions (No. 2 - 142), yards (No. 2 - 1,718), touchdowns (No. 1 -35), and pass efficiency (No. 3- 205.1).

Notes: 3-0 in singles with victories at #1 position including a dominant 6-0, 6-0 performance against Marian. 3-0 in doubles with partner Salvador Pons Medina, including a 6-0 shutout against Spring Arbor.

Notes: The match finished relatively quickly with Walsh's two points coming after the Fire clinched. Schondelmaier kick started that after her 6-3 doubles win with Aurora Compagnucci. She dominated on line three, rolling to a 6-1, 6-0 victory, improving to 4-1 in singles, and 5-1 in doubles.

Ava Winkler, Ave Maria (Right)

Freshman | Jacksonville, Fla.

Notes: Just like the Gyrenes did as a team on Wednesday, Adriana Bravo and Ava Winkler swept the day against the Barry Buccaneers. In the first match, Bravo and Winkler dominated their opponents, allowing just nine points in each set. In the second match, Bravo and Winkler dominated again winning 21-15, 21-13. Bravo and Winkler allowed the fewest points scored on Wednesday with just 46 total points across four sets.
