TAMPA, Fla. – The Sun Conference is pleased to announce the addition of Abigail Petrillo and Amber Mateo as Digital Content Interns for the 2026–27 academic year.
Petrillo and Mateo will work directly with The Sun Conference staff to promote the league's 24 championship sports through graphic design, video content, social media, and digital storytelling. The internship provides hands-on experience in collegiate athletics communications while allowing interns to develop industry-relevant skills in content creation.
Petrillo is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration at Warner University, where she serves as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the Women's Lacrosse program. A former captain of the Warner women's lacrosse team, she has gained experience in athletic communications and event operations through internships with Warner Athletics. She also serves in game-day roles with the New York Yankees/Tampa Tarpons and the Tampa Bay Rays, where she has gained experience in fan engagement, event operations, and game-day execution.
Mateo is pursuing her master's degree in Marketing at St. Thomas University, where she will serve as an Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant beginning this fall. She is also a League Digital Media Intern and Coordinator with Unrivaled, creating photography, graphics, video content, and other digital media. Mateo previously completed an athletics creative services internship at SUNY Fredonia and has experience producing content across a variety of collegiate and professional sporting events.
“We’re excited to welcome Abigail and Amber to The Sun Conference team for the 2026–27 season,” said Sun Conference Commissioner Dustin Wilke. “Both have demonstrated the skills and work ethic to make meaningful contributions, and we look forward to supporting their growth. Their addition reflects our continued commitment to creating valuable professional development opportunities for students across our member institutions.”
