MIAMI, Fla. (February 24, 2021) – The 2020-21 All-Sun Conference Men’s Basketball Teams were announced on Wednesday as voted on by the league’s nine head coaches. This year’s teams feature 10 first-team selections and 11 second-team honorees.
Overall, nine different schools placed at least one player among the group of 20 that make up the first- and second-team all-conference units. This year’s teams are comprised of 11 seniors, six juniors, two sophomores, and two freshmen.
Warner led all teams with four all-conference honorees, including first-team selections
Rod Boggan,
Darryl Mercer, and
Logan West. Ave Maria had three all-conference honorees led by first-teamers
Eric Klekas and
Fernando Salsamendi.
Jordan Booker from Thomas was named to the first team along with Florida Memorial’s
Mubashar Ali, Coastal Georgia’s
Kenny Brown, Keiser’s
CoreVon Lott, and St. Thomas’
Dwayne Russell.
The Sun Conference Specialty Awards for Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Rollie Massimino Coach of the Year, and Champion of Character will be announced Thursday.
The semifinals of the 2021 Sun Conference Men’s Basketball Championship will take place on Friday, February 26, from the Turner Athletic Center in Lake Wales, Florida. Semifinal number one, featuring the top-seeded Warner Royals versus St. Thomas will begin at 5:00 p.m. Game two, featuring second-seeded Ave Maria versus Keiser is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
