WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 13, 2023) – The Sun Conference released its Players of the Week on Monday with seven schools garnering awards in men’s and women’s golf, women’s lacrosse, baseball, softball, and men’s and women’s tennis for the week ending March 12.
Golfers of the Week
Sun Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week
Hoi Ki Lau – #8 Keiser | Fr. – Hong Kong
Freshman Hoi Ki Lau claimed the first tournament title of her Keiser career, shooting a one-under, 215, at the 2023 Keiser Kup. She helped the Seahawks win their second straight tournament which included No. 4 Southeastern, No. 19 Texas Wesleyan, and No. 23 St. Thomas. The first-year Seahawks led the three-day tournament wire-to-wire and was the only golfer to shoot under-par for the event. She shot two-under on Par 3s and was one-under on Par 5s. Recording a team-best 34 par putts, Lau notched a team-best nine birdies and registered one of the team's two eagles. On the year, Lau has recorded a season stroke average of 74.53 and has carded three top-5 finishes. She is currently ranked No. 13 by GolfStat.
Sun Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week
Jakob Stavang Stuhaug – #1 Keiser | So. – Floroe, Norway
Stavang Stubhaug claimed his first tournament title of the 2022-23 season, shooting a four-under, 209, at the 2023 Keiser Kup. His play helped the Seahawks claim the team's fourth tournament crown of the season. The sophomore won the individual championship with a par putt on 18 to take the medalist honors by one stroke. For the tournament, Stavang Stubhaug shot three-under on Par 4s and was two-under on Par 5s. He posted 38 par putts and recorded 10 birdies. He was the only golfer (out of 64) to shoot under par in each of the three rounds. With the win, Stavang Stubhaug lowered his season stroke average to 71.70. He is currently ranked No. 8 by GolfStat.
Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week
Sun Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Bryce Gerber – Webber Int’l | So. – Attack/Midfield – Manchester, Md.
Gerber continues to show why she is one of the top players in The Sun Conference after another outstanding week in which she tallied 15 goals and six assists for a total of 21 points. She tied her season-high for points with 11 against Tennessee Wesleyan and then tied her season-high for goals with eight against Division-II Emmanuel.
Sun Conference Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Talia Myers – #4 Keiser | Jr. – Midfielder – South Jordan, Utah
Talia Myers and the rest of the defense proved that on Thursday by not allowing the Bulldogs a single chance to score and recording the third shutout in program history. On that same day, Myers surpassed 100 career points with four goals and an assist. Her defensive career numbers are now top-5 in groundballs, caused turnovers, and draw controls in program history.
Baseball Players of the Week

Angel Diaz - #6 Webber International | Sr. – Infielder – West Palm Beach, Fla.
Diaz continues his hot-streak at the plate as he ended last week with a batting average of .650. He totaled eight runs scored and eight RBI's while slugging 1.050.
Sun Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Xavier Rodriguez - #6 Webber International | Sr. – Right-Handed Pitcher – Tampa, Fla.
Rodriguez tossed a seven-inning no-hitter in game one against Aquinas College. He tallied a season-high nine strikeouts and walked just one batter.
Softball Players of the Week
Sun Conference Softball Player of the Week
Chapel Cunningham – #16 Southeastern | So. – Infielder – Chattanooga, Tenn.
Cunningham had four multi-hit games in five contests and was 4-for-5 with runners in scoring position. The sophomore had six hits during the weekend series sweep of Webber International and scored six runs.
Sun Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week
Hayley Dickerson – #25 Coastal Georgia | Sr. – Pitcher – Rincon, Ga.
Allowed just two earned runs in four appearances. Also broke the schools record for strikeouts in a career in game one against Thomas.
Tennis Players of the Week
Sun Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Annie Carrera – #11 St. Thomas | Sr. – Miami, Fla.
Annie Carrera got the Bobcats back on track after their first loss of the season and now ride a new win streak at 5 straight. Carrera helped STU to a clean week of work on Spring Break going 5-0 in singles, highlighted by an upset of #40 Banning from Cardinal Stritch. In doubles play Carrera went 4-1. STU is now 12-1 on the year and have been recently bumped up to #11 in the country.
Sun Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Bruno Duarte – #13 Ave Maria | Sr. – Contagem, Brazil
Duarte played a huge role in Ave Maria's biggest regular season win in program history, a 4-0 triumph over No. 8 Xavier. Duarte helped the Gyrenes claim the doubles point with a tiebreaker win at the third flight, then earned a dominant singles win at the fifth flight to help the Gyrenes topple their first-ever top ten opponent.
