MIAMI, Fla. (May 26, 2023) – Keiser University claims the 2022-23 Sun Conference Commissioner’s Cup. The Seahawks win their first cup since the 2017-18 season, scoring 177 points between their top four men’s and women’s sports. Southeastern came in second with 160 points while St. Thomas came in third with 118.5 points. These members were the only three to hit the 100-point threshold.
Sun Conference Commissioner Dustin Wilke said, “The Sun Conference is pleased to present this year’s Commissioner’s Cup to the Keiser Seahawks. This accomplishment represents an outstanding collective effort led by Athletic Director Kris Swogger, the staff, coaches, and most importantly the student-athletes and we are proud to honor them with this award.”

This award is a culmination of the hard work and dedication our athletic department has shown towards being the best in the nation. I’m proud of the championship focus put forth by our staff, coaches, and student-athletes.”
Top Four Women’s Sports
- Women’s Soccer (25 points) – The Seahawks went undefeated in conference play and swept the regular season and tournament title for the eighth time in program history.
- Women’s Tennis (25 points) – Keiser stunned the tennis world ending Georgia Gwinnett’s win streak taking them down in the indoor national champion to claim the no. 1 ranking in the NAIA for all of the 2023 season. Head Coach Daniel Finn led his team to their fifth straight regular season title and six straight tournament title going unbeaten again in league play.
- Women’s Golf (20 points) – The Seahawks won their seventh conference title earning coach of the year, golfer of the year, freshmen of the year, and the medalist at the tournament.
- Women’s Volleyball (12 points) – Keiser had a great run this season finishing third in conference standings and making a run to the tournament championship game.
Top Four Men’s Sports
- Men’s Soccer (25 points) – The Seahawks swept the regular season and tournament titles for the second time in program history.
- Men’s Tennis (25 points) – Keiser men’s team also upset the Grizzlies to win the indoor national championship and claim the no. 1 ranking for the entire 2023 season. They swept both crown for the seventh time in program history.
- Football (25 points) – The Seahawks had their greatest season to date making a postseason run that ended in the national championship game. The claimed the conference’s first crown award since 2013, going perfect in league action.
- Men’s Golf (20 points) – Keiser claims their second straight championship title, while taking home coach and golfer of the year honors.
Keiser claimed seven conference championship overall, adding four tournament titles in sweeping both men’s and women’s soccer and tennis.
Overall, the Seahawks earned 197 All-Conference recognitions and 112 Academic All-Conference recipients.
Commissioner's Cup points are awarded in descending order to full TSC members based on regular-season standings in the 15 conference sports plus an additional five points to the conference tournament champion. The point allocation, regardless of the number of TSC members who sponsor the sport, will be 20 points for first place, 15 for second place, 12 points for third place, 10 points for fourth place, eight points for fifth place, seven points for sixth place, and so on.
The conference tournament champion for sports without regular season standings (M/W Cross Country, M/W Track and Field, and M/W Golf) received 25 points with the rest of the point allocations following the same format listed above; 15 for second place, 12 for third place, and so on. The points are then calculated by adding the top four men's finishes and the top four women's finishes for each full member school.
