LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 12 SCAD women’s cross country team was perfect on Saturday, clinching the 2024 Sun Conference Championship and earning the automatic bid to the 2024 NAIA National Championship.
DID YOU KNOW? This is the second consecutive season in which the Bees finished with a perfect score at the Sun Conference Championship and the fourth-straight SUN Championship.
TEAM RESULTS: SCAD won the Sun Conference Championship with a perfect score of 15 points, while Ave Maria University finished in second with 51 points.
MAJOR AWARDS: At the conclusion of the meet, the Sun Conference Major Awards were announced and SCAD totaled three honorees.
Mila Gresh was named the Freshman of the Year,
Maddy Walter-Sherretts was named the Runner of the Year, and Head Coach
Andy Knapp was named Coach of the Year.
FIRST-TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE: The top seven finishers earn First-Team All-Conference honors. Maddy Walter-Sherretts won the individual title with a time of 22:27.7.
Talia Sullivan and
Liz Hogan finished second and third with their respective times of 22:50.5 and 22:51.3. Rounding out the top five,
Edith Manfred finished in fourth with a time of 23:18.7, and
Maggie Froning placed fifth with a time of 23:29.7.
SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE: Runners placing eighth through 14 earn Second-Team All-Conference honors. Mila Gresh and
Valentina Garcia finished in 11
th and 13
th with their respective times of 24:36.1 and 25:03.6.
