SCAD Savannah Named 2024 Women’s Cross Country Championship Preseason Favorite

TAMPA, Fla. – SCAD Savannah has been voted to win the Sun Conference Women’s Cross Country Title as voted on by the head coaches in the 2024 Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

The Bees look to win their fourth straight Sun Conference Championship after claiming the 2021, 2022, and 2023 titles. At last season’s championship meet, SCAD achieved what no other team had done in SUN Championship history by finishing with a perfect score of 15 points, with all top five finishers. SCAD returns three of those top-5 finishers, Edith Manfred, Maggie Froning, and Valentina Garcia. The Bees total 36 points in this year’s poll and six first-place votes.

Southeastern is picked to finish second at the championship meet this season, totaling 29 points and grabbing the other first-place vote. Grace Feder, the sixth overall finisher last year, returns for her senior season alongside fellow All-Conference runners Jillian Blaser and Natalie Rohm.

Just behind the Fire, slated for third place, with 28 points is Ave Maria. The Gyrenes finished third at last year’s championship, scoring 55 points and placing all five runners in the top-18.

St. Thomas is voted to finish fourth with 21 points while Keiser is slated for fifth place with 15 points. Rounding out the poll is Warner and Webber International with 10 and eight points, respectively.

This year’s Sun Conference Championship takes place on Saturday, November 9. Results for all meets all season long can be found on The Sun Scoreboard or on the women’s cross country composite schedule page.
