Keiser Leads Men's Basketball Postseason Awards

TAMPA, Fla. – The Sun Conference announces its major award winners for the 2023-24 men's basketball season.

Keiser's Vincent Miszkiewicz was named the Sun Conference Player of the Year as he averaged 17.8 points and 14.8 rebounds per game in league play. Overall, Miszkiewicz is second in the country in total rebounds (474) and leads the country in rebounds per game (15.81). Miszkiewicz has helped the Seahawks to a 8-6 recond in SUN play which was good for the four seed in the conference tournament. He also adds 33 blocks, 28 assists, and shot 53.8% from the field this year.

Calvin Sirmans, also from Keiser, is this year's Sun Conference Freshman of the Year. Sirmans led KU in scoring, averaging 19.8 points per game (third in the conference). Sirmans also dished out 25 more assists than anyone else in conference play, totaling 100 on the year (7.1 per game). In total, he has tallied 196 assists which is good for second in the country. Sirmans has also hit 22 three pointers, grabbed 39 boards, and earned 34 steals.

St. Thomas's Patrick Crarey received the Rollie Massimino Coach of the Year Award, leading the team to an 10-4 record in the SUN in his fourth season as Head Coach. The No. 21 nationally ranked Bobcats secured the #1 seed in the conference tournament under Crarey's leadership and were recently awarded five All-Conference honorees, the most in STU history.

Ave Maria's Jonathan Effertz is the Sun Conference Champion of Character. As AMU's Head Coach Jamon Copeland stated, "Jonathan is the epitome of who I would want all my student-athletes to be. I can't think of a student-athlete with more character or one better to represent the Champion of Character Award."

Effertz, a sophomore, is already a team captain for the Gyrenes, another testiment to his character and one to his work ethic. He carries a 3.63 grade point average while being a great teammate and an outstanding friend to those around him.
