TAMPA, Fla. – The Sun Conference announces its major award winners for the 2025 beach volleyball season.
Aspen and Layton Adams of Mobile have been named the Sun Conference Pair of the Year, with Aspen Adams also earning Player of the Year honors. The seniors from Union Springs, Alabama, went undefeated in league play this season at flight #1, helping lead their team to the 2025 Regular Season Title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The Rams hold an impressive overall record of 21-4.
William Carey’s Lara Monteiro has been named Freshman of the Year. Monteiro, alongside her teammate Marcella Hermont, competed at flight #1 throughout the season, recording an 8-4 record in conference play. The Crusaders secured the No. 4 seed in the upcoming conference tournament, finishing the regular season with a 9-3 record.
Bailey Beck of Spartanburg Methodist has received this year’s Champion of Character award. The sophomore from Simpsonville, South Carolina, was selected by head coaches in recognition of her leadership within the Pioneers’ program and for initiating pre-match prayers with her opponents. Beck and her teammates have also been actively involved in various off-the-court community service efforts, including serving the homeless and volunteering with the Miracle League.
Jon Campbell of Mobile has been named Coach of the Year. In his 20th year at the helm, Campbell guided his team to a 21-4 overall record and a perfect 12-0 mark in league play, capturing the Regular Season Title. He also led six players to First Team All-Sun Conference honors. The Rams are currently ranked No. 6 in the latest NAIA Top 10 Coaches’ Poll and enter the tournament as the No. 1 overall seed, aiming for their second championship of the season.

The 2025 Sun Conference Beach Volleyball Tournament Championship begins on Friday, April 11th, in Gulf Shores, Alabama, featuring four first-round matchups. Top-seeded Mobile will face No. 8 St. Thomas, and fourth-seeded William Carey will compete against fifth-seeded Truett McConnell, both starting at 9:00 a.m. These matches will be followed by No. 2 Webber versus No. 7 Ave Maria and No. 3 Loyola against No. 6 New College of Florida at 11:00 a.m., with more matches scheduled throughout the day.
