SCAD Savannah's Colena Roberts Named 2024-25 Sun Conference Sports Information Director of the Year

TAMPA, Fla. — Savannah College of Art and Design’s Colena Roberts has been named the 2024-25 Sun Conference Sports Information Director of the Year.

Roberts, who is entering her tenth year at SCAD Savannah, plays a vital role in the success of the Bees’ athletic department, managing the internal data and external relations for all 23 varsity programs.

“I am thrilled for Colena to receive this honor,” SCAD Director of Athletics Amanda Workman Haverstick commented. “She has been an integral part of SCAD Athletics and has worked tirelessly to advance our department within The Sun Conference and the NAIA. Our sports information department has grown and will continue to expand with her leadership. This recognition is a testament to her passion and the high standard of excellence she brings to SCAD Athletics on a daily basis.”

During the 2024-25 academic year, SCAD student-athletes earned 142 All-America honors across 13 sports, including seven individual national champions and three team national titles in equestrian. The Bees also captured their first-ever NAIA National Championship in women’s soccer. Roberts and her communications staff were instrumental in promoting these historic achievements and supporting the student-athletes on and off the field.

She also played a key role in hosting several major events, including the Sun Conference Men’s and Women’s Soccer Tournament Championships, the Women’s Lacrosse Tournament Championship, and the NAIA Women’s Lacrosse National Championship.

This year, Roberts advocated successfully for the hiring of a full-time assistant—the first in program history. Beyond SCAD, she was recently elected to the NAIA-SIDA Board as an at-large representative and has contributed to both the NAIA-SIDA Stats Committee and the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Professional Development Committee.

Roberts will now move forward to the national ballot for the NAIA Sports Information Director of the Year Award, which will be announced on September 15.
