Webber’s Blayne Huter Named Inaugural Sun Conference Male Athlete of the Year for 2024-25

TAMPA, Fla. — Webber International University senior pitcher Blayne Huter has been selected as the 2024-25 Sun Conference Male Athlete of the Year, as voted on by the league’s athletic directors.

Huter delivered a standout season on the mound, earning recognition as both a First-Team NAIA All-American and First-Team All-Conference selection. He was named the Sun Conference Pitcher of the Year, marking him as the league’s most dominant arm this season.

“Blayne set a pretty high bar for himself last year, from a performance standpoint,” commented Webber International Baseball Head Coach Collin Martin. “I think he did a terrific job of totally immersing himself in his work from the start of the fall on. He held himself accountable to reach his goals and in doing so, set the standard for his teammates as well.  The results speak for themselves, and we are certainly proud of him and all the acknowledgment he has earned. Being chosen as The Sun Conference Male Athlete of the Year is a fine way to cap off his college career.”

One of the most consistent and impactful performers in the country, Huter surpassed 300 career strikeouts and set a personal best with 14 strikeouts in a complete-game, 3-hit shutout over rival Warner University. His leadership and presence on the mound anchored a Webber pitching staff that helped guide the Warriors to their second-ever appearance in the Avista NAIA World Series.

Following the season, Huter signed a professional contract with the Sussex County Miners of the Frontier League, continuing his baseball career at the next level.

Blayne Huter’s combination of production and leadership made him a key figure in one of the most successful seasons in Webber baseball history, and his recognition as the Sun Conference Male Athlete of the Year reflects his significant impact on the field in 2024-25.
